I came across this stunning picture on the Dragon Writing Prompts blog and there was an instant connection to it.  I think it's perfect for #WordlessWednesday ! 


I love the way the yellow stands out against the grey starkness of the picture. There's so much detail.  I can almost feel the fog shifting across the trees.  The branches eerily calling you towards them - almost enticing you to walk down the yellow brick road.  Something must lurk beyond the fallen tree trunk - why else would there be an obstacle on such a pretty path. 

 What do you think of when you see this picture ? Would you go down the path to see where it takes you ?

Imagine having a lazy early evening nap (it's rare for me), feeling the breeze brush against your skin, and then there's a crow / raven flying right at you to take rest at your feet ! OMG - I found myself jumping out of bed and on the floor.  My windows were open and I really 'felt' that bird at my feet ! 

Naturally, I do what any sane person would do - Google'd dream dictionaries for the interpretation of seeing a crow in my dream.  The results were actually interesting and insightful; and given that I could relate to it all - means I'm pretty happy about it all. (albeit a little shaken at the thought of a crow landing at my feet WHILST I'm asleep !!) 


My take on it is that seeing a crow in ones' dream is generally rare and when you do see one it is a good omen and an omen of intelligence / wisdom as well. 
  1. It implies that your subconscious wants you to try harder and educate yourself.  Would you believe - I recently completed a Diploma in Social Media Marketing and am due to start an Advance Digital Marketing course next week.   I haven't 'studied' (in the traditional sense of signing up for courses) in almost a decade and after doing the first course, I was ready to sign up for the next.  I've always enjoyed 'learning' and I guess this means I'm on the right track in terms of improving my own mind. 
  2. It is associated with a major life decision such as buying a home, investing or entering into a relationship.  This summer I decided, I wanted to own a property. Somewhere to call my own space.  A base if you would like to call it.   I've been talking to my friends about it and have raised the topic with my Mum as well.  Fingers crossed I will become a home owner. 
  3. It means it's time to take risks, to look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life.  For me this means that anything I choose to do with the above two points will be successful and materialize positively for me.  Maybe this is just the sign I needed to know that I'm on the right track. I'm building on my dreams. 
Of course there were a whole bunch of other interpretations which were on the depressing to almost morbid but I didn't really get that vibe from my dream. Do you remember your dreams ?  I remember almost all my dreams quite vividly.  It's kind of a scary at times especially when I end up with a sense of deja-vu over a situation similar to a past dream.  

Do you consider dreams to be symbolic ? I'm sure you have all had a grandma or relative interpret a dream on your behalf at some stage in your life.  In case you are curious, are you aware of these 12 Facts About Dreams & Dreaming ?

I’ve more or less passed out at my laptop every night for the past 3 weeks now.  I can’t believe just how exhausted I’ve been ! It’s this horrid combination of being over-worked; staring at the laptop for hours on end;  the Indian summer heat-wave (think 39 C) and long hours of driving in the traffic hell that is Bombay !

And my poor blog, it’s been so neglected.   I start Windows Live Writer with the intention to write but before I know it – I’ve yawned myself into tears and just need to put my head down .. and when I open my eyes, it’s stupid o’clock and the laptop is already in sleep / hibernate mode and that’s when I just go back to bed.

I need some ‘me’ time .. just not sure when that is going to happen.

p.s. this post was written on 11th March and only just managed to get published !

There was a time when those mood swings would really put a damper to my day.  I used to have a really nasty temper – and once I got into that ‘bad mood’ – it wouldn’t let up and eventually would consume my entire day.  That’s a full 24 hours that was wasted away due to a mood swing which I should have tried to keep under control.  I’ve gotten much better at keeping my temper and my mood swings in check over the last few years.  Nowadays – the mood swings are there only for the 'moment’ and I can continue the rest of my day without interruption.

 

You often hear people say that one should start their day on a positive note; that one shouldn’t let a minor mood swing set back your whole day.  And it’s true.  You are in absolute control of your mood each and every day; so why not just choose to be in a good mood despite whatever setbacks you may have during the course of the day.

Recently I’ve kinda developed a bit of a soft spot for lizards. They still give me the creeps but it’s very hard to explain. Let’s just say that lizards are meant to bring good luck; and lately I have a family of 4 lizards hanging out my bedroom window.

Anyway, this has got to the prettiest lizard I have ever seen. I came across it on my island tour of Bermuda and managed to capture a few shots of it before it ran for cover !

A friend of mine managed to capture this one in the suburbs of Bombay.

Check out the front of the auto rickshaw – it says ‘Love is a sweet poison’ – which funnily enough goes quite well with the ‘do not kiss’ sign behind the driver.

Saw this on a friends’ FB wall yesterday and had to share it.  This unusual scene was caught on camera by a friend in Dubai over the weekend.  It was UAE National Day and looks like our friend Mr Camel got to chill out in the back seat before heading back out to the desert.

Did you know that today Fri 13th July is the 3rd Friday the 13th we’ve had in 2012 ?

For the first time since 1984 these 3 Friday the 13ths (Jan 13th, April 13th & July 13th) are exactly 13 weeks apart !!  Accordingly to an article ‘5 Facts About Friday the 13th’, such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.  Although mind you, 2009 had 3 x Friday 13th and now so does 2012.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’ve never really given Fri the 13th much thought – it’s just another day for me and it helps that I’m not particularly superstitious.

I’ve had a super relaxing day catching up with a university mate over divine white wine sangrias on a gorgeous terrace in the Old Port of Montreal.

Then I went over to my old stomping ground at university and had the best (dessert) meal ever !! A plate of ‘achta’ (pronounced ‘ah-sh-tah’; Lebanese clotted cream, similar to Ricotta cream cheese) with bananas, strawberries, almonds, and honey with a fresh fruit juice.

I smiled when I saw this and knew I just had to share with you all.  Doesn’t this remind you of a box of scattered colour pencils ? I haven’t used colour pencils in the longest time and wouldn’t mind grabbing a few and see what comes of it !
