Did you know that today Fri 13th July is the 3rd Friday the 13th we’ve had in 2012 ?

For the first time since 1984 these 3 Friday the 13ths (Jan 13th, April 13th & July 13th) are exactly 13 weeks apart !!  Accordingly to an article ‘5 Facts About Friday the 13th’, such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.  Although mind you, 2009 had 3 x Friday 13th and now so does 2012.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’ve never really given Fri the 13th much thought – it’s just another day for me and it helps that I’m not particularly superstitious.

Friday 13th
I’ve had a super relaxing day catching up with a university mate over divine white wine sangrias on a gorgeous terrace in the Old Port of Montreal.

Then I went over to my old stomping ground at university and had the best (dessert) meal ever !! A plate of ‘achta’ (pronounced ‘ah-sh-tah’; Lebanese clotted cream, similar to Ricotta cream cheese) with bananas, strawberries, almonds, and honey with a fresh fruit juice.

So – how has your Friday the 13th been ? Do you believe that one gets bad luck on this day ?  What has your luck been like today ?

Guess What … It’s Friday the 13th !

friday-13thFriday the 13th happens at least once a year, at most three times; and 2012 is gonna be one of those years where we have not one but 3 Friday the 13ths !  That’s right folks – January 13th, April 13th and July 13th ! And if that’s not got your knickers in a twist – for the first time since 1984 these 3 Friday the 13ths are exactly 13 weeks apart !!

Accordingly to an article ‘5 Facts About Friday the 13th’, such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.  Although mind you, 2009 had 3 x Friday 13th and now so does 2012.  Do you reckon that means something ? 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world right ?

I had been meaning to write this post all day but was out of the city since 8 a.m with a client for site visits so couldn’t get around out to it until now.   Now that I think about it back in 2009 when I wrote about Freaky Friday the 13th – I had actually headed out of the city with my cuz & business partner NC for a meeting … which is exactly what we did today.  Coincidence ? Maybe ?

Anyway – how was YOUR Friday the 13th ? Anything unnerving happen ? Or is it just another day for you ?  Are you superstitious at all ? Do you believe in the myth or just laugh it off ?

To all you the friggatriskaidekaphobics of the world (NO it’s not a cuss word – just what you call people who have a fear of Friday the 13th) – don’t worry the day will come to an end; and to the rest of you – Happy Friday the 13th folks !!

p.s. before I forget – this post marks Day 13 & Post 13 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge; if you are taking part then don’t forget to share your link below !

friday-the-13th And if that’s got you worried or scared – have no fear because today is the only lone “Friday the 13th” we are going to see in 2010 !  According to London's Daily Mirror, more than 60 million people worldwide claim to be affected by a fear of Friday the 13th and some will refuse to drive or go to work.

Friday the 13th happens at least once a year, at most three times.  There's only one this year and only one next year (May 13, 2011), but watch out: three in 2012 (January, April, July).

Last year – I wrote a post ‘Freaky Friday the 13th and here’s a bit of trivia for you …. Fear of Friday the 13th - is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia !!! Damn those are long words to pronounce ! You’d think it was something naughty but really it’s not !

Oh and apparently if you have 13 letters in your name, you're said to have the devil's luck.  The Huffington Post uses Charles Manson as an example .. hmmm !

Today was like every other day for me … well almost … last year was uneventful … today was going absolutely fine until I found myself a mere 30 feet away from the entry gates of my building … scaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapeee !!!

Yup … my car got scratched =(  And I thought it was gonna be a good day … damn it why did the Friday 13th hoopla have to show up as scratch marks on the side of my car ???

So how was YOUR Friday the 13th ??  Are you superstitious ? Or is it just another day for you ?

Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend ahead of you !!! and don’t worry – we’re going to be Friday the 13th Free for the rest of this year !!!

Yes I'm aware I'm posting this on the 14th and not the 13th ... It just so happens that since the day before I've been noticing all these 'signs' referring to Friday the 13th .. and just now as I was on LR checking out some new blogs, yet another post was talking about this day but in a really cool sort of way which I liked =)

Really ... what is the big deal with Friday the 13th or rather the number 13 ?? Are you the superstitious kind or believe that it is an 'evil' number ? Why is that some buildings don't have the 13th floor ??

I recall that whilst at university, I lived in a building with 26 floors, but there was no 13th Floor - so technically the building only had 25 floors ... I never understood that.

According to my readings on Wikipedia, Friday the 13th occurs when the thirteenth day of a month falls on Friday, which superstition holds to be a day of good or bad luck. In the Gregorian Calender this day occurs at least once, but at most 3 times a year.

If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 is an unusually unlucky year. If you haven't realised it already - February 2009 already had a Friday 13th and now in March, we have yet another one, and the next is in November. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years according to an article I read online.

Is it really such a big deal ? My cousin mentioned the day before that I should be careful on Fri as we were to be driving a long distance for a meeting; and I kind of laughed it off .. My fear wasn't in the fact that it was Fri 13th - but more so that I would have to encounter the crazy maniacs calling themselves drivers in Mumbai for a longer period of time !

My day yesterday was really good in fact ... Finished off with a successful meeting; got back to work; had a good brainstorming session with the team; and made our way home without any incidents; got to my cousins' place where I hung out for a few hours chilling with my little nieces and had a great dinner ... so it was a Good Day for me =)

And now a bit of trivia for you ...

Fear of Friday the 13th - is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia

whilst

triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.
