Yup you read that right, and after you watch this video for ‘Clean & Dry Intimate Wash’ you’ll agree that someone needs to shoot the entire creative team behind this ridiculously retarded advert that is now trying to tell Indian women that not only does your skin have to be fair for you to be a perfect partner; but now your freaking vagina has to be fair too !!

Like WTF is wrong with society ??? Who cares what colour any ones’ vagina is ? I’m pretty sure that no guy thinks ‘ooooh she’s hot, I hope her vagina is fair & lovely’ or ‘Hmm she looks like she might have a dark vagina, I shouldn’t ask her out’

As you can see the couple in the video are quite ‘fair’.  They are sitting there having a coffee whilst the woman is looking like she’s about to burst into tears (I wonder why).  The guy goes about his coffee without even glancing up at her.  She’s still looking like someone has died (or has an upset tummy) and voila – she has a solution.  It’s off to the showers for her were she uses a magically whitening and lightening intimate wash so that her vajayjay can become all shiny so as to attract the attention of her husband !! Before you can even blink at the absurdity of it all, she’s out prancing about on the sofas so that the her newly white vag is in her hubbys’ face aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the best part is that she is now comfortable enough to stick the keys into her shorts just so her hubby can reach in and unlock the new magical white vag !

It’s bad enough that the Indian society is full of stereotypes – the biggest being that one  has to be fair to be accepted and appreciated by members of the opposite sex; and that women particularly must maintain their radiant white skin tones (how many ‘white’ Indians have you come across recently ??).  But to come up with this ridiculous product to ‘lighten and whiten your vagina’ – it’s just too much !!

Women as a whole are always under pressure to look the part, dress the part, act the part – to be that perfect woman that all guys want – and now to tell them that their most intimate body parts are ‘too dark & ugly’ and needs fixing is just too much !! I canvagina cupcakes’t even begin to imagine the kind of complexes some Indian women will begin to feel after seeing this commercial.  It’s bad enough they aren’t comfortable with their bodies; but now to have to sit and think ‘is my vagina the right shade of pink’ – that’s just WRONG on so many levels that it makes my blood boil !!

Oh and now the Indian male chauvinist pig who enjoys putting his woman / woman around him down – after seeing this commercial – will think it’s his God given right to tell a woman ‘sorry, your pussy is too dark so I can’t go down on you – that just means more blowjobs for me’  aaaaaaaaaaaaaargghhh !!!! I swear to you this is the new line a man could/would use to avoid going down on a woman.  If a man EVER told me that my coochie was too dark and needed lightening, I would just decline & deprive him of pussy privileges and throw his sorry ass out !!

The unfortunate thing is that this ridiculous product can capitalize on the fact that people within the Indian societies have inferiority complexes and hence will actually buy the product !! I just hope to God that none of the Bollywood celebrities actually try to endorse this product – ‘cos then the herd mentality will commence !

What are your thoughts on the subject ? Do you believe that celebrities should endorse products that somehow impose an inferiority complex on the population ? Don’t we have other things to worry about in an already very complex world ?

Guys – seriously – have you ever thought about the shades of vaginas that you are interested in ?  Does it even matter to you ? I would hope that you would dissuade any woman from ever using such a product.  In fact, since it’s Cake & Cunnilingus day tomorrow – show her that a real man wants to eat his pussy au naturel !

Disclaimer : I’m aware that there are fairness products available in the US / Europe for the same thing – but it’s not something that is endorsed the way it is in India.

FrustrationI’ve been going absolutely nuts with my upcoming clients’ wedding; and have barely had time to plan out my birthday party !  This is NOT a good sign because I’m normally prepared with an entire weekend birthday plan at least 3 weeks prior to d-day but this year it’s just been kinda crazy.

For starters – I only finalized the venue a few days ago and I’ve had to follow up with my bar and catering teams to finalize on the drinks and food menu.  Hey, I’m an events planner – I get into the detailing of things (much to the annoyance of my mates).

I really wanna party – but unfortunately looks like this is going to be the one year that I can’t celebrate the way I want to.  I had a fabulous plan in mind which was going to out-do my 29th b’day; but due to the f*ck up with my bank and credit card company all my plans have gone for a toss !

The bigger piss-off is that I’m here – stuck in bloody Bombay for my birthday.  I don’t want to be here; especially not for this particular birthday – all the others I could deal with … but the plan was never to be here …

When sh*t hits the fan – it really does and it just feels that nothing seems to be working towards making things go right for my birthday.  It’s so frustrating.  Or it could just be me having super high expectations (I suppose I could be pretty anal that way).  Whatever it is – right now it’s getting on my nerves and it’s annoying the hell out of me.

I know in the end everything will be fine … it’s just not going to be what I want .. and that part sucks.

And if it’s not gone already – it’s gonna go very soon ! I’m referring to my Blackberry .. and ever since I have gotten that phone – it’s caused me nothing but trouble !

Note :

I’ve always been partial to Nokia – I’ve used various Nokia models over the past 15 years (except for one year where I tried the Sony T69 and dumped it after the contract was up) and despite the convenience of the BB Email service – the phone itself is just not for me.

The Nokia literally can withstand anything – including falling in a bucket of water (and Stephanie from Steph In The City inspired me on this rant after I read her post ‘My Cell Phone Took A Plunge’ !

Seriously – how the hell is the Blackberry supposed to be a good business phone ?? One doesn’t even have the option to ‘select all’ messages (SMS or Email) to delete them !!! Nokia has that feature ! Someone said to me “but why do you need to delete the emails” … hmmm because I don’t want it using up memory on the damn phone !! Besides I have a copy on my actual email account !

My entire weekend got messed up when my phone decided to belly up and just go weird on me … My cuz NM and I were chilling at my place the other night watching the Argentina vs Germany match – when my phone rebooted itself.  Since I was engrossed in the game – I didn’t pay too much attention .. that was until half time and I had to check something ..

Next thing I know is that I can’t find A SINGLE CONTACT in my phone address book … I have over 3000 numbers on my phone (yes I know its an insane amount but I’m a networker and in events – so I need these numbers) … between having a mini panic attack and an almost epileptic fit – NM somehow ‘found’ my contacts … Only one problem (well make that a few now) … a lot of the contacts were replicated; a lot of them were missing and it appeared that the phone had developed a mind of its own.

I spent the entire next day putting in all the potentially lost contacts – only to have the phone ‘hang’ on me a handful of times .. and guess what .. every time it rebooted – the new contacts got deleted !  Talk about a bloody piss-off and a half !

Then I thought ‘ooh I can use the backup database’ … erm ya no good … still rebooted .. now what ??? I thought ‘call the BB repair guy’ (he’d actually sorted my data transfer from Nokia to BB) and when I went to look for his number on the phone … it wasn’t there !!! neither was my bank manager, my bank, my latest client, some of my vendors and even my mate NB (even though she’d just given me her number again the day before) ! Now that’s just ANNOYING !!!

nokia vs bbSo tomorrow – it looks like I’m going to have to send the phone for repairs – get the software examined / updated and put in my contacts again.  I’m just sooooo glad that I didn’t delete the contacts from my Nokia E71 (but now my mother won’t give it back to me)

I recently read an article by BoyGeniusReport on Nokia E71 vs Blackberry Bold (mine’s a curve) and I still feel that other than the Email service from BB – the Nokia is just a MUCH BETTER phone – whether its the battery life; ease of use; key pad (fine I just hate the track ball on the BB) and functions (e.g. on the Nokia I could set up clocks for various time zones – can’t do that on the damn BB – have to do it manually every time I want to check the time in another country!)

What do you reckon ? Are you a big Blackberry fan ? Or are you a die-hard Nokia supporter ? (I feel like a traitor for even using the BB but NC might kick my ass if I rack up her phone bill with all the internal work calls made) … If you are a BB user – are you having any problems with it ? Any suggestions for me that might help me bond with the phone ?

p.s yes I have contemplated going back to a newer Nokia – however in India – the phones are purchased offline and without plans – and the new models are over $450 which in Rupees is a hefty chunk of cash to fork out in one shot for just the phone !

There is turbulence lurking under the calm surface exterior.

It turned out to be a late night on Saturday as I was finishing off the final master interviews for the documentary that I have been taking part in.

Just so that you don’t feel completely confused and in-over your head .. The documentary gives you an insight into the lives and perceptions of an NRI living in India (me); an Indian girl – NB - who is born and raised in India and an NRI guy – AC - living overseas.  The documentary goes on to look at each character’s perspectives on relationships and thoughts on arranged and love marriage.

rearranged marriagesIn some of my previous posts, I have discussed the type of person you are attracted to as well as the importance of mental and physical chemistry between people.

As some of you know, I’ve also set myself up as a guinea pig whilst exploring the route to marriage by way of the typical Indian matchmaker / priest as well as a matrimonial website (and I’ve done this because in 2 years of being here – it just seems more complicated when it comes to meeting men who know what they want !)

I came to realise a few things …

  1. No one is what they appear to be
  2. I cannot and will not compromise my personality and who I am for ANYONE
  3. I am not arranged marriage material

I already knew these things but now after taking part in the documentary – I just ‘know’ those things.

I got to hear a few things said by the male protagonist and somehow I just wasn’t surprised that a good looking, smart, educated male would go on to ‘talk down’ on the modern woman and her ways of life .. specifically – he was talking about ME !

This man – who has known me for all of a week perhaps – has spoken out about how he felt I was ‘clingy’, ‘could not take a hint that he was not interested’, ‘overly flirtatious’ and apparently ‘disrespectful to my mother’

This description is in the context of me being someone who is considering ‘an arranged marriage’ (and by arranged I don’t mean that I would just jump at whoever my parents point me at but in the sense that I’m at least open to the idea of meeting men who are interested in a serious LTR via my family / relatives etc)

That’s just a load of f**king crock mate !  At some point whilst I was being interviewed I eventually lashed out and pretty much cussed this man out.

Why ?? Because in his entire description of me – he failed to mention that HE made a MOVE ON ME - we kissed and fooled around a bit (and really it was just a bit!) and of course he totally forgot about that ! So I told it like it was ! The irony behind all of this was that I dropped him to the airport a few days later and even hung out with him for an hour in the waiting lounge where he pecked me good bye … Some people are just twisted in their thoughts.  Maybe he should have thought about the fact that perhaps his actions led to me flirting more with him than I would normally do so.

This is why I’m not made for an arranged marriage scenario … there are too many ‘do’s & don’ts’ that one has to follow – especially the women … there’s way too much protocol on how one should behave, and what is considered acceptable in the company of a man who is looking to get married.  That’s just rubbish as far as I go … who is the man trying to marry – ME or the FAKE ME who has to pretend to be someone that the guy would ‘want to’ marry ?? datingcartoon158

In one of my previous posts I wrote “You can be assured  that the other person is never actually going to understand your view point because they are mentally just not ready to accept anything beyond their personal experiences and understanding”

In another post, I wrote about Actions & Interpretations – and I honestly believe it holds true especially with the newfound knowledge I have of this man – who I thought was a pretty cool guy.   His actions – intentional or not (and he’d have to be pretty thick not to realise that everything he says is going to be shown on TV and people will make assumptions and my family will also watch this!) – have condoned any future of even a friendship between us.

I wrote a poem – Actions -  quite a few years ago which I reckon summarizes the situation.

Apologies to all for the rant – but I was really annoyed about this !  I don’t judge you – you don’t judge me  - is it that hard a concept to grasp ??

I swear that’s just how I feel.  As most of my regular neighbours in Bloggerville already know, about two months ago I was involved in a traumatic taxi incident.

It’s just over 2 months since the incident and just when I think I am almost fully healed and recovered … something … anything ad hoc and unnatural has to happen !

At first I didn’t pay much attention to it … but over the last 2 weeks I have been noticing that such incidents are taking place too often for it to be a random coincidence !

Last night (11/9/09) I was heading for a live stand-up comedy straight after work and since I’m not allowed to drive for another month or so – I took a cab.  Now please understand most cabs in Bombay are quick to find and know almost all the routes – but of course I get stuck with a guy who has just moved to the city from a random village.   We get to a particular turning and this guy is just speeding up – to a point where I can smell rubber burn and hear the tyres screeching … Guess what … the cab ended up with a FLAT and I had to get into another cab … No problems there, found another cab within 30 seconds … only to find out that my driver was reincarnated in the body of Frankenstein ! and kept driving with random jerky movements !

Last weekend, I thought, well I haven’t gone out for 2 months – no partying, clubbing or socialising with friends … let me go out for dinner and drinks with this girl NB (who was part of the documentary that I have been taking part in) and her mate KC.  Normally I tend not to step into other people’s cars unless they have a driver … it’s just something I’m not comfortable doing unless I know that person really well and I know of their driving skills.

I suggested a driver to NB however since she has an expensive car and hadn’t used the driver agency that I use – she opted not to do that and besides she was not drinking that night.  All was going well – she picked me up – we had a chill out evening with just the girls and then went to see DD at his hotel so that we could head out for a drink.

Got to the bar and it was already shutting shop for the night – so we headed back towards the hotel .. we were all pissing about in the back of the car and I was sitting right behind NB and happened to look up … all I saw was our car moving straight ahead at a decent speed (it was 1:30 a.m) and another car coming in from left to right .. and … BANG … instant collision !

P9050031 P9050035

Here’s my mate’s car (on left)  and the other car (on right) … it was a pretty serious accident … luckily no one got hurt … the cars were both banged up … and all I seem to be suffering from is a bit of shock on the foot as I had braced my feet on the car mat when I saw what was about to happen .. natural instinct right …

It’s not just the above two incidents that’s got me thinking … Last Sunday I had told a friend that I would drop him to the airport – with a driver of course – and whilst waiting outside his hotel, the security guard – not even the valet – decided to move one of the other cars and he was so useless at reversing the car – he almost backed up into the security booth ! I should have taken that as a sign and asked my driver to move my car … because next thing I know – in a blink of an eye – the jack ass has gone and reversed into my car ! Nothing major – small little dent made from the exhaust pipe but still … it’s a f**king piss-off and a half !

I need to start driving again … at least I feel more in control of the things that could happen around me and if I have to point a finger – I can point it at me … but right now it’s just frustrating as hell ! I don’t even know what to do about it !

Normally I reserve that line for myself … I’m so simple – it’s apparently complicated (for others) !

But no – my experiences in Bombay have just made me realise how bloody complicated other people ! And really – compared to them – I am pretty simple and straight forward !

So here’s the general gist .. and please feel free to give me some feedback on this – because I don’t get it !  About 2 months ago – I met a guy – Banker Boy – at a mutual friends’ party – and turns out we worked in the same office building on different floors and we exchanged contact details (either on FB or at the party) .. although I think it was on FB after someone tagged his picture …

That same week, we exchanged a few text messages, agreed to meet for lunch and the same night – he invited me to join his friends for a party.  I did meet him but only as I was attending a party at a venue next door to where his group was.  After that – we’ve met up once a week either for lunch or in the evening for coffee and a drive (and mind you he’d moved offices as well so it was an actual effort on both our parts to meet up).  Then as you all know – I had my nasty flu – and he even came by my place to check on me when his crew went out to the bar below my building; and also drove 13 kms out of his way to come and take me for lunch whilst I was stuck at home for those 10 days. magnetic attraction

Now during this time – I’ve noticed a few things … He always initiated the day / time that we would meet up; he would make the effort to link up with me at a party that I would be at in the evenings – even for 15 minutes and then leave to go on to whatever other party he was attending with his friends; we would text / sms each other close to 15 times a day AND even talk for short bursts (5 min convos) during the course of the day …. however we have never even kissed … we’ve flirted and teased and flirted more .. and that’s about it … and being the kind of person I am – I would like to know what’s going on … ‘cos really it didn’t seem very ‘buddy buddy’ …

Last week we were supposed to meet up for Sunday lunch – and circumstances turned that he left his phone with a work colleague when they went out for the weekend, and totally ditched me for lunch and I obviously didn’t hear from him till Monday … And I was quite irritated.  No one likes to be stood up without explanation right ?

So on Thursday or Friday I sent him a text suggesting isn’t it about time that he makes up for ditching me for lunch … He replies and its positive – and he even mentioned how he thought I was pissed off and hence took a few days to reply to me.  Now check this - HE has initiated that we meet up on Sunday for lunch, dessert and a movie !  I haven’t even said anything about what we should do etc. It’s all HIM !

He picks me up on Sunday – we go for lunch to a nice restaurant – have a glass of wine – we’re flirting – we’ve held hands – gone for dessert – I’m feeding him brownies whilst he’s driving … we’ve even done the hand-on-hand whilst on gear as well … He drops me home – says goodbye to me in the car – 3 times with a hug … and sorta tweaking my nose … Mind you, throughout the afternoon, he has complimented me a few times, suggested plans to meet up over the next week which include going for a play and to teach me investments AND even to meet me the same night AFTER he was done with his family commitments  … so I took the bull by the horns and suggested that we meet that night and I’d give him a kiss good night too …

First step taken … sent him a text message later telling him that I really did have a good time and that I was being serious about meeting up that evening – after all I had fed him brownies and as a p.s. note I added that his boys would cuss him if he ditched on such an offer … I was making a joke and being playful about it …

His response – which came almost 2 hours later … see below and let me know if you can make head or tail sense of it …

“Hey had a great time too.  That’s a very sweet offer and although my boys would be pissed with me for saying no to an offer like that, they understand that I am more interested in being friends.”

Seriously …. that’s what he sent me … digest it …

It’s such a simple response – and very nicely done as well mind you – but seriously – what the fuck ??? Sure friends – do all the things – him and I have done … but not always one-on-one …. Him and I are not best buds nor are we friends from donkey years … we actually met up once at a party and after that it has been one-on-one interaction between the two of us …

So of course my response to him covered my ass and his ass too so as avoid any future embarrassment … I actually told him that we were friends and he ruined my moment of being able to hand him a Hersheys Kiss chocolate bar … and that I’d talk to him later as I was watching Scrubs …

That should have been the end of it … Had I not heard from him after that – it would be fine … but guess what …

scrubs 2“Ya know, I’m sure you’re gonna agree. I really relate to JD in Scrubs. I’m as goofy and stupid as him. Enjoy Scrubs”

Have you ever watched Scrubs ? Do you know JD’s character ?? That was the icing on the cake because ironically I had just finished Season 6 of Scrubs and had started season 7 where JD realises that he is a “self-sabotager” and how he freaks out when any relationship becomes serious !!!

Give me a break …. of all the characters on TV shows – he picks JD as his reference ??? It was such a simple response … he should have just left it … but no … lets make it complicated with that reference !

Why make that reference ?? Does that mean he is interested but not sure ‘how’ interested ? or does it just mean that he’s got issues with an ex flame that he’s not over ?

At least his initial message was ‘just want to be friends’ … it’s another perspective to look at and think that his actions didn’t exactly reflect those of a friend … Honestly – I have lots of friends – and even with my close guy friends here in Bombay – I don’t exactly spend the one-on-one weekly quality time with them … yeah sure we hang out – more like once a month properly or as a group – not always as individuals …and even more unlikely that I would make time & effort to meet a new person that often if I didn’t think that there was something ‘more’ to it … know what I mean ??

Conclusion : Indian Men have way too many complexities to even be considered simple !
