And if it’s not gone already – it’s gonna go very soon ! I’m referring to my Blackberry .. and ever since I have gotten that phone – it’s caused me nothing but trouble !

Note :

I’ve always been partial to Nokia – I’ve used various Nokia models over the past 15 years (except for one year where I tried the Sony T69 and dumped it after the contract was up) and despite the convenience of the BB Email service – the phone itself is just not for me.

The Nokia literally can withstand anything – including falling in a bucket of water (and Stephanie from Steph In The City inspired me on this rant after I read her post ‘My Cell Phone Took A Plunge’ !

Seriously – how the hell is the Blackberry supposed to be a good business phone ?? One doesn’t even have the option to ‘select all’ messages (SMS or Email) to delete them !!! Nokia has that feature ! Someone said to me “but why do you need to delete the emails” … hmmm because I don’t want it using up memory on the damn phone !! Besides I have a copy on my actual email account !

My entire weekend got messed up when my phone decided to belly up and just go weird on me … My cuz NM and I were chilling at my place the other night watching the Argentina vs Germany match – when my phone rebooted itself.  Since I was engrossed in the game – I didn’t pay too much attention .. that was until half time and I had to check something ..

Next thing I know is that I can’t find A SINGLE CONTACT in my phone address book … I have over 3000 numbers on my phone (yes I know its an insane amount but I’m a networker and in events – so I need these numbers) … between having a mini panic attack and an almost epileptic fit – NM somehow ‘found’ my contacts … Only one problem (well make that a few now) … a lot of the contacts were replicated; a lot of them were missing and it appeared that the phone had developed a mind of its own.

I spent the entire next day putting in all the potentially lost contacts – only to have the phone ‘hang’ on me a handful of times .. and guess what .. every time it rebooted – the new contacts got deleted !  Talk about a bloody piss-off and a half !

Then I thought ‘ooh I can use the backup database’ … erm ya no good … still rebooted .. now what ??? I thought ‘call the BB repair guy’ (he’d actually sorted my data transfer from Nokia to BB) and when I went to look for his number on the phone … it wasn’t there !!! neither was my bank manager, my bank, my latest client, some of my vendors and even my mate NB (even though she’d just given me her number again the day before) ! Now that’s just ANNOYING !!!

nokia vs bbSo tomorrow – it looks like I’m going to have to send the phone for repairs – get the software examined / updated and put in my contacts again.  I’m just sooooo glad that I didn’t delete the contacts from my Nokia E71 (but now my mother won’t give it back to me)

I recently read an article by BoyGeniusReport on Nokia E71 vs Blackberry Bold (mine’s a curve) and I still feel that other than the Email service from BB – the Nokia is just a MUCH BETTER phone – whether its the battery life; ease of use; key pad (fine I just hate the track ball on the BB) and functions (e.g. on the Nokia I could set up clocks for various time zones – can’t do that on the damn BB – have to do it manually every time I want to check the time in another country!)

What do you reckon ? Are you a big Blackberry fan ? Or are you a die-hard Nokia supporter ? (I feel like a traitor for even using the BB but NC might kick my ass if I rack up her phone bill with all the internal work calls made) … If you are a BB user – are you having any problems with it ? Any suggestions for me that might help me bond with the phone ?

p.s yes I have contemplated going back to a newer Nokia – however in India – the phones are purchased offline and without plans – and the new models are over $450 which in Rupees is a hefty chunk of cash to fork out in one shot for just the phone !

I have been wanting to write about how I’ve been feeling the past few weeks; ever since the night my grandfather had a stroke and was admitted to the ICU. That was about 2.5 weeks ago. The night he had the stroke, it’s almost as if I felt like something was wrong as I had been having trouble getting to sleep and felt like I kept hearing things. Apparently I wasn’t imagining it – my father had gotten out of bed and left for the hospital around 3 a.m.

My nana was in ICU for 12 days – and every day - the hospital waiting room syndrome seemed to just get worse for me. After about a week; the doctors stated that he was getting more stable – and suddenly last week - things weren’t going so well.

When I got the news – it was one of those late night / early morning phone calls .. and just like the last time I got one of these calls – I’d had a miserable night trying to get some sleep. crying eyes

Today marks one week since my grandfather – my ‘nana-ji’ - passed away. I haven’t quite been myself since and I suppose it affected me more than I cared to admit.

There’s a lot of emotion that I’m feeling but unable to completely process it – perhaps its a conscious decision not to because I know just how vulnerable it will leave me. Mere thoughts and memories leave me teary eyed; there’s so much that I hadn’t said or done and now I won’t even be able to.

The past week has been a blur; I can barely remember waking up or falling asleep; and sleeping just meant very uncomfortable dreams (they weren’t night mares but they weren’t pleasant dreams either) which resulted in practically no sleep and just waking up absolutely exhausted.

Some of you have known about this and I would like to thank you once again for all your support and kind words over the past few weeks. I really do appreciate it. It would mean a lot to me – if instead of leaving condolence messages – you would keep my nana in your prayers so that his soul may rest in peace.

… and tonight I’m feeling the after effects of being over-worked the past few months ! I'm an events and wedding planner by profession and its peak wedding season from October to February in India …. and right now .. I am tucked in bed, nursing a very bad headache that refuses to go away despite the pills I’ve popped to stop it.

Was on my way back home with my colleague MG and our in-house decorator – and she pointed out to me that it looks like I really need a lot of rest ! Tell me about it .. even last week when I was down with the flu – I was having trouble sleeping because I was so busy thinking about all the pending to-do items on my clients’ upcoming wedding … which is only 13 days away …

On another note .. there have been two articles posted about me on WeddingSutra.com which a portal for weddings.  That’s pretty cool =)  I’ve also been meaning to start writing about the process of event & wedding planning; tips – guides; and also sharing some of my work .. and I really want to do that on my own custom blog domain … which I really need to get working on !

I’m gonna go catch some shut eye now .. but I’m happy to say that I’ve got a bunch of posts already in progress … there have been a handful of blogs that I’ve been reading and they’ve totally inspired me to write on some topics which I haven’t really ventured into.

Until the next post .. Good night and sweet dreams

… and no I don’t think it sucks =P

It;s 5:01 a.m as I start this post and I’ve had a REALLY long few days .. been working from 10 a.m to 10 p.m as of yesterday on the documentary shoot and some client meetings; rushed home to get ready and head over for an Xmas party at a friends’ apartment by 11 p.m; got back around 4 a.m and I’m still awake !

So now that I’ve filled you in and you can appreciate my state of mind … I was blog hopping around the neighbourhood when I came across a tweet to 10 Reasons Why Your Blog Sucks by Edward Khoo.  The reasons come about pretty obvious when you read them but the perception described comes about in a really harsh manner.  If someone had to feel so angry or disgruntled after reading my blog – I would come away feeling pretty shyte ! I won’t put it all here but will give you a summary instead.

10 Reasons Why Some Blogs Suck =(

  1. You use syndicated content. You cut & paste articles from sites across the net onto your blog.  You can, but you shouldn’t. Without unique content your blog is nothing.
  2. Your blog is boring.  Write about topics that your reader, not topics that interest you.
  3. Your blog revolves around your person. Stop talking about yourself already. Readers don’t know you personally, and couldn’t care less about your ramblings. Tell them Facts or stories, not boring personal stuff
  4. Oh no, not your favorite music on auto-play!  Don’t add music to your site. Half the people won’t like it and the other half will find it’s a distraction.
  5. You use clip art
  6. No search boxes or archives.
  7. Bad Grammar, typos, misspelled words, and poor punctuation.
  8. Spinning Articles.  You write the same things others do that belong to your niche.
  9. Irregular posting.
  10. Your blog looks like 12023532989 other blogs.

Why My Blog Does NOT Suck

  1. I don’t use syndicated content. I swear ! Last time I checked, I hadn’t copy-pasted anything other than my scribbles from my word docs to Live Writer once I got it downloaded.
  2. My blog is NOT boring ! At least no one has said so or sent me ‘yawn’ comments.  I like to think I’ve got a variety of topics on hand ranging from Music; some Blogging Tips; Poetry new blog discoveries; and some deep & meaningful reflections as well.
  3. My blog revolves around my personWhy ? Because I am more likely to relate to things that interest me – impact me – and hence better able to convey those thoughts to my readers.
  4. I don’t have any music on auto-play.  I have blogged about some of my favourite music and the Magic Of Melodies by using links and video streams but none are on auto play.
  5. I use any and all sorts of videos and images that I feel will enhance my sporadic thoughts and help you relate to whatever it is that I am writing about. And that includes clip art.  I don’t own a personal database of over a billion images representing all walks of the universe.  That’s what the Gods of Google are there for.  However I’ve been lucky enough to capture some real Mumbai Moments as well as some great shots on my camping trip with my own camera so that should count for something !
  6. I have a search box on the top right corner of my blog !  I also have a really cool tool-bar (that took me forever to find) at the bottom of this page.  And even if the feature was not available – there’s always the CTRL F feature right there on your keyboard !
  7. Did yuo konw taht as long as teh frist and lsat letetrs of a wrod are palced coerrclty tehn you can from the snectnece wihtuot any turolbe.  I got an A in English through my schooling years.  I am quite a stickler for good grammar so not only do I use spell-checks when writing posts – I have also added certain words such as ‘woohoo’ to the dictionary just so that I have less errors during the spell-checks =P  Being a blogger is about being able to express yourself at leisure, or even whilst on the move – and hence small errors every now and then is still acceptable. Aaznmig, huh? Yaeh and I awlyas tghhuot slelinpg was ipmorantt!
  8. I don’t spin articles – at least not intentionally.  I write about anything and everything (although I probably will never be able to write about ‘everything’) and considering there are over thousands of similar articles and posts across the blogosphere – there are bound to be similarity to my posts as compared to those who write with no fixed agenda.
  9. My blog has been around for about 1.5 year and 152 sporadic thoughts old.  There were 28 posts between July ‘08 – Dec ‘08; and as of today excluding this post – 124 posts between Jan ‘09 and Dec ‘09 which is about 10 posts per month and 2-3 posts per week.  I’d like to think that makes a pretty regular blogger.  Ofcourse I could always try to write more .. but I can’t because I really can’t find the time to always be able to make a note of ‘everything’ that could perhaps be the most interesting content one would ever read.  I blog when I can – about whatever it is that I can – because I just ‘can’.
  10. Some people actually like my blog and that’s good enough for me. I don’t blog because I’m trying to become an expert in my niche - I don’t even have a niche !  I’ve managed to receive awards from fellow bloggers – and  it was a total dazed blur of awards for me when I got 3 in September.  A few people out there thought my blog worthy of an award in the form of a JPG image which is pretty cool =) In fact one went on to call me an Awesome Girl too :)  My newbie blogger ego got the better of me at the start of the year and I nominated myself for the Bloggers Choice Awards (just for fun) and I’m proud to announce I got 18 votes – out of how many thousands I don’t know – for Best Blog About Stuff !
  11. Various Blog Communities have given me some sort of decent ranking – even though I never asked to be ranked.  Don’t most of us belong to various blog communities or have been reading blogs for a while and hence got encouraged to write ?? because that’s how I got into blogging.  Besides the ranking status or Cyber Highway Traffic (as I like to call it) sort of gives one an idea of how other bloggers perceive their blogs.  I am not an expert – I’m not trying to be one – but I’d definitely like to know how I stand in the overall realm of things in blogosphere.
  12. Lastly I’m not writing this post because I think my blog is ‘the bomb’ – that’s Bombchells department =) It’s not because I think that my blog is a Bitch Fab blog – that title totally goes to the Fab Bitch herself :) But the main reason that my blog doesn’t suck is because it’s MY blog and it’s all about My Sporadic Reflections =)

My morning started off quite badly … My mood went from

‘Good Morning Peeps’

to

‘yeah remove the good from the morning’

and then to

‘feeling disillusioned by all around me’ …

Is it possible to have Thursday morning ‘blahs’ ?

grouchyIt didn’t look or even feel like my day would get remotely better … the air around me seems sort of heavy (or maybe it’s the quarter bottle of vodka I drank last night by myself – no not by ‘myself’ but I had vodka whilst AA, my friend / colleague had a quarter bottle of Teachers whiskey since it was his last day in the office) …

I’m not hung over – nowhere close to it.  The morning  started off with me wanting some bagels only to be told that the bagels I had bought yesterday had been eaten by others at home … No biggie – peanut butter and jam sandwich should work … My mother came in to meet me … that conversation took a random turn and got pretty heated … it was nothing serious but I think it affected me …

Of course it affected me – no wonder I’m feeling this way … the frustration that was within me seemed to keep building up … I could feel the tears of accumulate behind the whites of my eyes … wanting a release … I stood under the shower – washing my hair – and waited for some sort of epiphany but no such luck … (speaking of ‘release’ – AA would totally be shouting out Release Me’ right about now and making fun of me !)

Between wanting to shout out some profanities and just get the hell out of my house … I still felt trapped … I left home today and didn’t say bye to my mother … my father as usual didn’t exactly acknowledge my greeting or goodbye … No wonder I get worked up on family related debates !

I got lost in random thoughts – even more than I usually do on my way to work … It’s like I’ve reached the cross road of my life … which way do I turn ??  Lately I seem to be fighting this internal battle – and I’m probably not even all aware of it …

I miss my boys right now more than ever … especially since it was JA’s birthday yesterday … didn’t even get to speak to him as he was with family …

Now to find something else to distract me from this mood …

I’m quite sure that at some point or another, you would have seen something similar in your emails …

I came across this in a non-email format, and wanted to share it with you all :)

Happy reading !

Normally I reserve that line for myself … I’m so simple – it’s apparently complicated (for others) !

But no – my experiences in Bombay have just made me realise how bloody complicated other people ! And really – compared to them – I am pretty simple and straight forward !

So here’s the general gist .. and please feel free to give me some feedback on this – because I don’t get it !  About 2 months ago – I met a guy – Banker Boy – at a mutual friends’ party – and turns out we worked in the same office building on different floors and we exchanged contact details (either on FB or at the party) .. although I think it was on FB after someone tagged his picture …

That same week, we exchanged a few text messages, agreed to meet for lunch and the same night – he invited me to join his friends for a party.  I did meet him but only as I was attending a party at a venue next door to where his group was.  After that – we’ve met up once a week either for lunch or in the evening for coffee and a drive (and mind you he’d moved offices as well so it was an actual effort on both our parts to meet up).  Then as you all know – I had my nasty flu – and he even came by my place to check on me when his crew went out to the bar below my building; and also drove 13 kms out of his way to come and take me for lunch whilst I was stuck at home for those 10 days. magnetic attraction

Now during this time – I’ve noticed a few things … He always initiated the day / time that we would meet up; he would make the effort to link up with me at a party that I would be at in the evenings – even for 15 minutes and then leave to go on to whatever other party he was attending with his friends; we would text / sms each other close to 15 times a day AND even talk for short bursts (5 min convos) during the course of the day …. however we have never even kissed … we’ve flirted and teased and flirted more .. and that’s about it … and being the kind of person I am – I would like to know what’s going on … ‘cos really it didn’t seem very ‘buddy buddy’ …

Last week we were supposed to meet up for Sunday lunch – and circumstances turned that he left his phone with a work colleague when they went out for the weekend, and totally ditched me for lunch and I obviously didn’t hear from him till Monday … And I was quite irritated.  No one likes to be stood up without explanation right ?

So on Thursday or Friday I sent him a text suggesting isn’t it about time that he makes up for ditching me for lunch … He replies and its positive – and he even mentioned how he thought I was pissed off and hence took a few days to reply to me.  Now check this - HE has initiated that we meet up on Sunday for lunch, dessert and a movie !  I haven’t even said anything about what we should do etc. It’s all HIM !

He picks me up on Sunday – we go for lunch to a nice restaurant – have a glass of wine – we’re flirting – we’ve held hands – gone for dessert – I’m feeding him brownies whilst he’s driving … we’ve even done the hand-on-hand whilst on gear as well … He drops me home – says goodbye to me in the car – 3 times with a hug … and sorta tweaking my nose … Mind you, throughout the afternoon, he has complimented me a few times, suggested plans to meet up over the next week which include going for a play and to teach me investments AND even to meet me the same night AFTER he was done with his family commitments  … so I took the bull by the horns and suggested that we meet that night and I’d give him a kiss good night too …

First step taken … sent him a text message later telling him that I really did have a good time and that I was being serious about meeting up that evening – after all I had fed him brownies and as a p.s. note I added that his boys would cuss him if he ditched on such an offer … I was making a joke and being playful about it …

His response – which came almost 2 hours later … see below and let me know if you can make head or tail sense of it …

“Hey had a great time too.  That’s a very sweet offer and although my boys would be pissed with me for saying no to an offer like that, they understand that I am more interested in being friends.”

Seriously …. that’s what he sent me … digest it …

It’s such a simple response – and very nicely done as well mind you – but seriously – what the fuck ??? Sure friends – do all the things – him and I have done … but not always one-on-one …. Him and I are not best buds nor are we friends from donkey years … we actually met up once at a party and after that it has been one-on-one interaction between the two of us …

So of course my response to him covered my ass and his ass too so as avoid any future embarrassment … I actually told him that we were friends and he ruined my moment of being able to hand him a Hersheys Kiss chocolate bar … and that I’d talk to him later as I was watching Scrubs …

That should have been the end of it … Had I not heard from him after that – it would be fine … but guess what …

scrubs 2“Ya know, I’m sure you’re gonna agree. I really relate to JD in Scrubs. I’m as goofy and stupid as him. Enjoy Scrubs”

Have you ever watched Scrubs ? Do you know JD’s character ?? That was the icing on the cake because ironically I had just finished Season 6 of Scrubs and had started season 7 where JD realises that he is a “self-sabotager” and how he freaks out when any relationship becomes serious !!!

Give me a break …. of all the characters on TV shows – he picks JD as his reference ??? It was such a simple response … he should have just left it … but no … lets make it complicated with that reference !

Why make that reference ?? Does that mean he is interested but not sure ‘how’ interested ? or does it just mean that he’s got issues with an ex flame that he’s not over ?

At least his initial message was ‘just want to be friends’ … it’s another perspective to look at and think that his actions didn’t exactly reflect those of a friend … Honestly – I have lots of friends – and even with my close guy friends here in Bombay – I don’t exactly spend the one-on-one weekly quality time with them … yeah sure we hang out – more like once a month properly or as a group – not always as individuals …and even more unlikely that I would make time & effort to meet a new person that often if I didn’t think that there was something ‘more’ to it … know what I mean ??

Conclusion : Indian Men have way too many complexities to even be considered simple !

I just wish I could have taken a picture of the traffic hell I went through last night !!

It started raining (monsoon season here in India) early evening yesterday and by the time I left work there were huge puddles outside and I was drenched before I even got into my car !

The distance from work to home is a maximum of 13 kms … guess what … it took me 2.5 hours to travel that distance yesterday !!! 2.5 hours is not a joke !!! My mate MG and I were in the car – and we literally sat back and put on ‘Gone in 60 Mumbai TrafficSeconds’ on the laptop and watched most of the movie !!!

I live in South Mumbai and that’s the kind of traffic I faced going back home … I was feeling even worse for the people leaving town and heading towards the suburbs because there was a stretch of road for about 6 kms that was just chock-a-blocked with stand-still traffic !!! And MG wanted me to turn around to drop him home !!! yeaaaaaaaaaah right !!

And this is just the beginning !! This isn’t even close to the prediction for later this year ! Apparently this year the rains are going to be worse than the floods of 26th July 2005the forecast for this year is the highest tides (5.05 meters) that India would have seen in 100 years !   Mumbai's municipal council has admitted that it isn't equipped to handle more than 25 millimeters of rain per hour, coupled with a high tide of more than 4.5 meters (in 2005 it was 4.48 meters)

monsoon carFor those of you that don’t know it, the floods were caused by the eighth heaviest ever recorded 24-hour rainfall figure of 994 mm (39.1 inches) which lashed the metropolis, and intermittently continued for the next day. 644 mm (25.4 inches) was received within the 12-hr period between 8am and 8pm.  Torrential rainfall continued for the next week. (courtesy Wikipedia).

I wasn’t in the city when this happened – but know of a lot of people who suffered due to the floods !   From the above picture – you can see how the cars were being flooded !

So … as the monsoon continues to pour in Mumbai; people will continue to battle traffic snarls and wade through waterlogged roads and huge potholes !!! And I’m going to drive myself crazy :(

… not the kind you get from having something too cold too fast …

I feel like my mind is not functioning this month.

I’m not motivated.  I’m trapped in my thoughts.  I stare blankly at the screen.  I want to write – I really do – but nothing is coming out.

brainfreezeAnd what I do want to write – I am disregarding it and already trashing it in my head.  It’s sort of personal – so I suppose that’s a reason why I am not putting it down.

But really … brain freeze … it’s sad that this month only comprises of just over 10 posts … and the  last few months I have been doing really well.

I know I haven’t had much time – between being heavily medicated; some family obligations; and just caught in some sort of time warp zone – but still … I need to make the time to do this … I really do …

I’ve been trying to get around to writing about this but just haven’t had the time since my last post …. I had some wonderful ideas that I wanted to blog – however just haven’t found a few minutes where I can just ‘start’

Work has been hectic in terms of the number of enquiries I am sending out to my hotel counterparts – and for every enquiry I’m more or less dealing with the same hotels – just different people at the same hotel … and believe me when I say that I have practically pulled my hair out at the ridiculous levels of incompetency within the hospitality sector !

My car has been at the service centre for a WEEK !! Before you start thinking of the worst accident ever – it’s nothing like that – my car, Storm had a minor accident 2 weeks ago – and I have been left dealing with some serious dimwits at the insurance company and at the service centre.

mumbai-taxiI’ve had to take cabs all week – and we’re not talking about the smart, clean cabs that one might find in Europe, UK or the States … I’m referring to the ‘old school black & yellow padminis’ that make up the majority of cabs in India …. and guess what …

On Friday one of these crazy cabs decided to start moving whilst I was still getting out of the cab .. and it ended up going over the back of my left foot … natural instinct meant I yanked my foot away … bad idea … I’ve had a sharp pain in my inner ankle and have had it bandaged up since Sunday …. went to the diagnostic centre next to my office today ‘cos the pain actually got a bit worse … the Xray guy thought I had a hairline fracture !!! And told me to go visit an orthopaedic doctor at one of the main hospitals …

Luckily for me – it’s NOT a hairline fracture per say – it’s more of soft tissue damage and borderline fracture .. I have to take medication for this (you guys must think I’m a druggie constantly popping any form of over-the-counter drugs!) along with keeping my foot wrapped up ..

So now that I FINALLY have my car back … I can’t even drive ! Just bloody great !

Sundays are meant to be lazy days ! The one day in the week where you don’t have to worry about getting up early.  The day that you can just lay back in bed and snuggle up under the duvet in a chilled room.  A day meant for sitting in your PJ’s without a care in the world !

no sleep That’s not how I’m spending my day !  I woke up to the horrendous sounds of hammering and banging ! I thought the roof of my room was about to come down on me ! Initially I kept tossing and turning, just trying to ignore the damn noise but after a point – it was just a bit too much !!

I live in a 5 storey private building where I’m on the 4th floor – and the owner has the top pent house.  This man is crazy !

The building society has a law whereby no construction or building work can take place on a Sunday at any time and just because this jack-ass is the owner – he thinks it’s OK for him to have builders up there moving things across the floor – not by lifting them – but by dragging them !!

I had to call our building security twice to get them to stop the noise – and even had to move from my bedroom to my parents room just to try and get some sleep ! It’s the worst feeling when you get jolted out of bed because of some unexpected noise =(

I’ve been up and about since 9 a.m on a Sunday after only 4 hours of sleep and am feeling quite deprived.  Maybe I’ll catch a siesta later this afternoon – but it’s unlikely.

I am lazing away at NC’s place now as I write this post – propped up against two pillows with a light sheet over my legs listening to her talk to my cousin in New York.

Maybe we’ll watch a movie … maybe I’ll head back home … Oh and now she’s telling my cousin MC how she enjoys hanging out with yours truly !! Woohoo !!

For those of you out there on the other side of the globe – I hope you are having a truly sleepy Sunday !!

I have lots to write about – but don’t know where to start.  Nothing makes much sense to me right now.  My mind is still fuzzy with antibiotics.

I’m also having trouble sleeping the last few days.  I’m a vivid dreamer and also usually a very light sleeper.  The antibiotics that I am taking are really messing with my body clock.

I didn’t sleep very well last night; and it showed this morning.  I kept hitting the snooze button on my mobile alarm every 15 minutes for almost 1.5 hour today.  I just wanted an hour of peaceful sleep without the constant flow of  weird random thoughtsdreams =(

What I was really trying to do was ‘switch off’ the alarm completely but obviously that wasn’t happening with my face buried in the pillow !  When I finally woke up – I felt like I hadn’t slept the whole night.

I had a really sweet message from NC … yo woman where the hell are you ?? I wanna see you 2nite”It is sweet :)  She is missing me :)  At least someone is missing me !  We’ve been seeing a fair amount of each other – and I actually haven’t seen her since Saturday which is kinda weird and doesn’t feel right.   You would think this is a relationship of sorts – which it is – since we are blood related and all but it’s nice to have someone that you can see everyday and not get sick off … minus the emotional or physical connection that you would have with a man !

Does that mean I’m happier in my relationship with my cousin or would I rather want a relationship with a man ?  See the medication is making my mind go fuzzy !!

My boss HA just gave me a little jab on my side as he walked passed me … and I am super ticklish and super sensitive ! so of course yours truly just let out a high pitched shriek and practically jumped off my battered chair !

Oh I’ve moved offices … from a really sexy power office with ergonomical chairs to this cramped up office where 4 of us are sitting per long desk without even having enough room to move around !!  And I used to have my own private cubby hole ! This is so not fair ! I think these new chairs are the reason for a lot of back pain for me …

I’m meeting a few people tonight – TS – after work in fact which should be in about 45 minutes … He’s a banker; tall, quite cute, and a brilliant sense of humour … then I have to meet my other cousin NM, and then go and do ‘kriya’ with NC who feels that I need to ‘clear the air balloon in my head’ and I must allow her to ‘poke at it’

I think I have mentioned on another post somewhere that NC should come on and be a guest writer on my blog … She’s hillarious … Can the neighbours give her a round of applause so that she might be encouraged to share her with and humour with us all ?? Go NC go NC Gohhhh !!

It’s 6 p.m now and I should be getting off work in another 30 minutes or so … I’m supposed to call TS when I’m done – he’s gone home for a nap (lives close by to my office; oh and incidentally works in the same building as me too but currently working out of another office which is much closer to my house !) …

Note:  I wrote this post on 28th May but only managed to upload it this morning

I am sitting on my maternal grandparents terrace which overlooks the sea face .. their house is located in an area aptly named Worli Sea Face …

I love chilling out on this terrace … it’s huge !! In terms of space – at least 75 people could hang out here with a full blown bar hehe but I am side tracking …

I’ve been sitting here for the past 2 hours and just enjoying the sounds of the sea; hearing the waves crashing against the rocky shoreline; and feeling the light breeze against my skin.

I managed to take a few pictures … what do you think ?

P5280006Isn’t the view just stunning ??  Whenever I am here – I feel like I am not in Bombay.  It’s as if I am away from the dirt and grime of an over populated city and have been transported elsewhere.

It’s just really nice to be out here … I am a nature lover and have always loved the water … If the sea was cleaner and not so dirty – I would have enjoyed taking a dip in the water … but alas you don’t always get what you want …

The time has flown by – and I’ve not coughed too much; even had a light  dinner out here – a traditional dish which can only be perfected at my grandmothers’ house – so a source of comfort for me =)

Check this photograph out … I basically had to lie down flat on the terrace and angle the camera upwards so as to be able to capture P5280014the palm tree, clouds and the moon.  Of course the moon was more crescent and since I’m not using a professional camera it looks like it is more full than crescent – but I still think it’s a really cool picture :)

Maybe I needed this ‘breath of fresh air’ to get out of my sick-mode … I’ve been ill so many days now – that I feel that I have forgotten what it is like to be outside .. since I’m not really allowed to go out and walk around etc.  Damn ! I should have come here sooner !

My friend AM had posted this link up on his FaceBook and I thought it was a pretty cool advert.   I really like the way the producer has made the advert – there’s nothing obscene about it AND doesn’t look like there is anything to hide either =)

Living in India at the moment also means being subjected to some really bad advertisements on telly – which sometimes are so pointless – it makes you wonder what the brand managers and producers were thinking when they thought of the concept of the advert !!

Considering that there are some amazing creative geniuses in this country – their talent doesn’t always come out to the public – and when it does – it’s to a very select audience.  The majority of TV adverts are made for the masses and very few are actually made for the classes.

If a similar sort of advert was done for the Indian audiences – that would just become the next big headline and cause for scandal !! Lord only knows how many lawsuits might follow !!

I will be hunting for some examples to show you guys and will put this together for another post.

Morning all !!

It’s 6:00 a.m. in Mumbai and I’m wide awake ….I haven’t gone to bed as yet from last night.  I’m feeling slightly better.  Can’t believe I stayed home on a Friday night … then again in the condition I’m in – what else could I do ??

NC has been hanging out with me almost every day since I’ve been unwell … we chill; catch up over random gossip; make our future business plans and tonight – we totally vegetated having my place all to ourselves.

For all the cricket lovers out there – and NC is quite the cricket fan (guys – grab this girl now – you won’t find anyone else who might tolerate sports !!) … We watched the 2nd half of the first semi-final round between The Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers of the IPL T20 series taking place in South Africa.   It turned out to be quite a fast paced match which was good for me and very exciting for the crowd watching it live.   I’m not a huge cricket fan – however since the T20 is much shorter than regular cricket and this was a heated match – the highlights are so worth watching ! Especially Adam Gilchrist – wow he can bat !!!

Then we debated over which movie to watch … and I won’t even begin to tell you which one we did end up watching .. If I told you – I might never live the teasing down – so I will keep that a secret between NC and myself … but maybe if my meds kick in much later – I will let you know.

At about 2 a.m NC decides she has to go home – despite the fact that she quite literally lives 2 minutes away from my place if we had to drive; or about 2 blocks / 400 meters …. So drove her back home in my PJ’s.  For a Friday night – the roads resembled ghost town.  I wonder if something happened last night.

Came back home, and nowhere close to being tired (could’ve been the green tea that gave me some energy) – started watching the TV show Scrubs.   Now, I’m down 10 episodes in Season 3 and wishing you all a Very Good Morning !!!

You are a Seductive Dancer!
QuizGalaxy.com
Look out! You are the hottest thing on the dance floor. No one can resist your charms and you’ve perfected your dancing as a means of scoring. Everybody knows that if you are a good dancer, you’ll probably bring your rhythm to the bedroom which is a huge turn on for your admirers.

I have to be shameless and completely agree with the results of this quiz !! One of my qualities where I know beyond a doubt that I am good at is dancing !!

I've mentioned before that I really like to dance - and if I have a good dance partner - then there's really nothing stopping us from creating fire on the dance floor !!! I have had the pleasure over the years to be able to dance alongside some fantastic dancers and it is because of their partnership that I have been able to pull of some of the moves that I have done !

Now it's not like I have danced with anyone famous - just some regular guys (and gals) who have rhythm flowing through their bodies; their feet just interpreting the beats behind the music; their stance making them a presence to be acknowledged !

There have been nights where I have danced without a care in the world !! My dance partner and I would be the only people on the dance floor for all that mattered and it was just about the rhythm and beats of the music and our bodies moving in sync to the magic behind melodies.

So here's a shout out to all my dance partners that have made a difference to me ... Dubai - YK, Mumbai - HRH, YK, RO, AT; London - my ladies AP, DA, VN, EG, and the lads RDS, SP; Montreal - AC, SN, CT, AD !!

I just took this quiz and it's pretty accurate I would say ... I like to think of myself as a socially smart person who is also 'street smart'.

What kind of smart are you ?
I don't know if I'm irritated at a particular situation or if I couldn't care any less - it's not like there were any expectations from my end. It's like a constant battle of the sexes to even determine a path of friendship.

Some days I feel that the people of this city have an inbred gene that just causes confusion when mingling with a member of the opposite sex and managing to just royally f**k up what could be a great friendship.

I feel like I have no thoughts ... but I can see the words swimming in my mind ... I just can't form them right now ... so many words, so many phrases, so many interpretations ...

When I close my eyes - my eyelids feel heavy ... feels like an intense pain in the middle of my brows; that excitement that one feels on a whooshing roller coaster - that's how my brows feel right now - especially when I turn my head from side-to-side.

Am not quite sure which direction to turn - quite literally ... even now I wonder what I should do ... I want to leave - I just don't know when or how ... I know 'how' but I don't know 'when' ... When is a good time I wonder ? Or maybe there never is a good time .. maybe there is just the 'time' ...

I found the image on another blog 'A Beautiful Revolution' ... check it out :)
Am not quite sure what I want to write about today - but I want to make sure I get into the habit of writing as often as possible - so for now will just scribble some thoughts that crossed my mind ...

My eyes hurt from looking at the laptop surfing the internet all day ... actually all week ... I spend at least 14 hours a day looking at the screen - at work and at home ! They feel kind of gritty, and it hurts to splash cold water on them ... eye drops aren't helping ... I should put myself out of this misery !

The recession is now starting to pinch my pockets =( I don't like that feeling at all ... I like being able to do something, anything without having to think twice about whether I have enough for a rainy day - because I normally do ! and now I don't .. well not as much as I want =(

Went out last night with a girlfriend and there were a limited number of guys that could even be referred to as eye candy ! How sad is that ! and we were looking really good ... Met one cute guy, got his number, but he was quite buzzed - even messaged him today - and no reply ... could he have been that drunk / stoned or a combination of both ?

Maybe it's just me - but there aren't very many 'quality' good men in Mumbai ? Most of the good looking guys open their mouths and I want to shove cotton wool into my ears as the accent or poor use of vocabulary hurts too much ! Or they turn out to be alcoholics in the making competing with their friends in who gets wasted the quickest ! Instant turn-off !! uggghhh !!

The other category of guys - who have good looks, personality, and vocabulary skills - fall within your social circle - and are therefore untouchable ... or are they are really ?? Actually this is a good topic for another post - stay tuned for more !

It's too hot !! The weather is getting more and more humid ! Stayed indoors today in the comfort of my A/C - I don't mean to harm the environment but the heat will give me migraines and that's a pain I can't bare to take after the few weeks that I've gone through !

I wish I knew how to change my blog template ... I've found a few that I like but haven't been able to make them work ... hmmm will have to ask one of my more HTML-savvy friends to look into this for me ...

I spent a lot of time today just browsing various blogs, commenting on them, learning new perceptions and view points, and thinking of how I could use those topics as inspiration for new posts ... I have yet to write this ... but my eyes are really hurting now !!

I just got a text message / SMS that made me smile - thanks YK !! if only we were not buddies .. you could be my Latin Lover and I, your Dancing Diva =P

Maybe I'll go to bed now ...
