- It implies that your subconscious wants you to try harder and educate yourself. Would you believe - I recently completed a Diploma in Social Media Marketing and am due to start an Advance Digital Marketing course next week. I haven't 'studied' (in the traditional sense of signing up for courses) in almost a decade and after doing the first course, I was ready to sign up for the next. I've always enjoyed 'learning' and I guess this means I'm on the right track in terms of improving my own mind.
- It is associated with a major life decision such as buying a home, investing or entering into a relationship. This summer I decided, I wanted to own a property. Somewhere to call my own space. A base if you would like to call it. I've been talking to my friends about it and have raised the topic with my Mum as well. Fingers crossed I will become a home owner.
- It means it's time to take risks, to look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. For me this means that anything I choose to do with the above two points will be successful and materialize positively for me. Maybe this is just the sign I needed to know that I'm on the right track. I'm building on my dreams.
Note : This post was written about 2 weeks ago !
I’ve been working a lot the past few days as I’ve mentioned in my last posts; and I’ve also not been sleeping very well; between organizing my clients’ wedding functions (which start tonight btw) and my own party – it’s been quite hectic !
I kid you not when I say that my clients are literally taking over my life .. including my dreams ! I woke up with a start this morning because I must have spent the majority of the morning dreaming about them being present in my house and giving me instructions on what meetings they wanted changed !
It’s 00:48 and I’ve finished my last meeting for the day – and came across a tweet by Guy Kawasaki titled 15 Interesting Facts about Dreams & Dreaming. I went over and checked it out and thought to add my own two cents to some of the points …
- We forget 90% of our dreams. I suppose that’s true. Considering we have over 150,000 dreams in a lifetime; that’s 15,000 dreams that we DO remember. How many dreams do you remember having this week or last month ? I can think of 3 vivid dreams from the whole week; but nothing more than that. Now given that we can have 4-7 dreams in one night which each dream lasting around 1-2 hours; it’s no wonder we forget our dreams.
- Everybody Dreams. If you think that you don’t dream – then you are under the influence of alcohol, sleeping pills, or any other drugs (including caffeine) – as these factors inhibit our ability to dream. (who isn’t under the influence these days?) But really - you’re just like the rest of us. Unless one has an extreme case of psychological disorder.
- Blind People also Dream. If someone goes blind
after birth they can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind have dreams involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion but can’t see images. I never actually thought about this.
- Animals dream too. I used to love watching my dogs sleep. I would know they were dreaming when they’d flicker their paws as if they were running; sometimes even making sounds which made me want to give them big comforting hugs. I’ve always been curious to know ‘what exactly’ my dogs used to dream off. I remember stroking them to calm them down if they looked like they were having a bad dream.
- In Our Dreams We Only See Faces, That We already Know. Have you ever woken up and wondered ‘who was that in my dream ?’ That person is real – maybe you passed on the street; or on the train home; that crazy driver trying to maneuver their car in a traffic jam. So real that we have crossed paths at some point – and yet we don’t necessarily know them or even remember them. So if you live in a big city – that’s quite a few hundred thousand faces – that will keep coming up in as various characters in our dreams.
- Not Everybody Dreams in Color. A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. According to recent researches, the percentage of people dreaming in black & white has decreased significantly .. Why ? Colour TV !
- Dreams are Symbolic. Have you ever looked up a ‘dream dictionary’ ? My mum has always had one in her bedside drawer and whenever we had unusual dreams as kids – we would tell her and she would look it up and tell us the symbolism behind it. Lately I’ve been dreaming of my teeth breaking – which implies that I’m self-conscious about my appearance. I think it just means I’m due for a visit to the dentist ! Although, Just today my mum was mentioning that if you can remember your ‘early morning dream’ that it normally comes true. Hmmm I better call the dentist just in-case.
- Dream Incorporation. Our mind interprets the external stimuli that our senses are bombarded with when we are asleep and make them a part of our dreams. This means that sometimes, in our dreams, we hear a sound from reality and incorporate it in a way. I recall that whilst on the camping & rafting holiday; due to the fact my tent was facing the Ganges river & we were surrounded by natural forest; I would dream a lot about being in the river or have an adventure trek in the forest (something I actually didn’t do ‘cos of the foot!)
- Fancy Predicting the Future or Déjà Vu Anyone ? There have been times where I’ve had dreams and maybe a few weeks later or months later .. that dream has come true ! The correct way would be to call it Precognitive Dreaming. Then there’s that innate sense of Déjà vu that comes about when you’re having a chat with someone and you feel that you’ve had that particular conversation before. Well guess what – you have – in your dreams ;)
- Control Thy Dreams .. .. a.k.a lucid dreaming. As a kid, I recall many times where I felt like I was completely ‘aware’ and ‘in control’ of my dream. Have you ever felt like you could control and manipulate the situation or surrounding in the midst of a dream ? I’ve had dreams wherein if I was in a situation that made me feel uncomfortable or unpleasant – I have been ‘aware’ enough to change those circumstances, or ‘rewind’ the scene to ‘replay’ it in another way. Has that ever happened to you ?
- Men & Women dream differently. If a man states that he only dreams about sexy sizzling women – don’t worry they’re lying ! Around 70% of the characters in a man’s dream are other men. Considering men have more aggressive emotions in their dreams than women – could they be practicing their combat skills to rescue damsels in distress ?? Although I will admit that I’ve had my own share of turbulent reveries ! Luckily for us women, we can appreciate both sexes so its a 50-50 ratio in our dreamland. However the most emotion experienced in dreams is anxiety … even in our sleep we are bothered by negative emotions =(
-
Dreamy Orgasms. Yup – one can experience an orgasm as strong as the
real ‘O’ whilst dreaming. So next time you have a naughty dream – keep dreaming – and you might just wake up pleasantly surprised … and on that note .. I’m happy to say that DAMN I woke up in a happy happy mood hehehe .. That’s right I was dreaming about YOU !
So what was the last dream that you had and remember ? Do you feel that you can control your dreams ? Have you ever experienced Déjà Vu whilst dreaming ? Have you ever used a dream dictionary ? Do you believe that dreams are symbolic ? or do you just forget your dreams and move on with life ?
I’d love to know your thoughts on this .. sometimes I feel we don’t give enough thought to all the things that actually go on with us – from a deeper perspective .. so this should be interesting …

It's not even a sequence - they are random; involving different people that I know; in locations from my past that I haven't been to in years; the fact that the dream occurs in such a haphazard manner is enough to leave me jolting awake !
The Turbulence Begins
I was transported back to my old bedroom in Dubai; a fairly large room with a king size bed in the middle; two side dressers; a built-in triple white floor to ceiling wardrobe on the right (if you are looking at the bed from the door); another triple maroon wardrobe directly in front of the bed; a home entertainment unit next to it with TV & stereo; a computer desk and study table on the left side of the bed; and a glass sliding door that opens into a small balcony. The balcony overlooks the garden, a brick patio directly below and main road facing, there is also a deep ledge with gaps in the middle going out to the end of the villa wall.
I was sitting in my room with some of my nieces - the young ones, aged 1 to 2.5 years and just generally chilling out with them. I'm not quite sure what triggered me but I felt something was wrong; there was a knock at my door. The door which is a solid brown wood door; was actually different in my dream - it had some bars on the top half of the door so one could see who was outside and a vent style grill at the bottom of the door.
There were two maybe three men at the door; and they were trying to get into the room. They can see us - we can see them. There is a shutter over the grill as well. Something wasn't right and I didn't want the guys to come into the room. I saw something in one of their hands - it looked like a butcher knife whic
h had a sinister gleam to it. They kept trying to open the door; and push open the shutter. They kept insisting it was for our own good for us to get out - but they kept pointing at the kids. I didn't like that. The nanny for the kids was in the room too - and I kept pointing her to the balcony and telling her to figure out a way to get out. There were people on the patio - who didn't seem to be aware of what was going on inside the house. However they realized that there was an urgency in the situation and that I was trying to get the kids out of the room. There was havoc in the room; imagine banging on the door with loud yells; the kids frightened and starting to cry; and me trying to give instructions to the nanny on how to get the kids out. Tie the sheets together against the balcony railings and slide down if you must but get the hell out of this room !!!
The men at this point outside my door - had now managed to break the shutter and could see everything that was going on inside the room; they were trying to break their way into the room; I could see the wood shattering; and the grill vent being worked on - the screws holding it in place were falling onto the carpet and very soon these men could be in the room.
I must have pushed, shoved, at these men and their hands that were trying to get a grip onto me as I was literally at the door. When the grill vent came off; one of the hands attached itself onto my calves and I had to stamp it away with my free leg ! A smoke bomb went off from out of nowhere - and my eyes were beginning to water. The kids were out of the room; and on the patio; the nanny was on her way out; and I was trying to do the same.
The room was larger than life all of a sudden and it felt like a lifetime to get towards the balcony. I kept trying to call the local service (don't ask why I was calling the telephone operator of Mumbai when I was apparently at my old house in Dubai) to get the number for the Police. Yes it's true - I don't actually have the Police contact number in Mumbai !! My hands were shaky; they were even bleeding slightly - maybe from struggling at the door earlier; and I just couldn't get in touch with the operator.
Then it happened - I fell to the floor - one of the men had squeezed through the grill and gotten into the room and had rammed me to the ground. After much ground wrestling - I managed to get my hands on something - a pen if I recall correctly - and used it to jab this man in the eye !!! And I kept jabbing; and pushing this pen - nib side by the way - in to his eye ! Enough to make a grown man squeal at least. All the while - worrying that the other men outside the door would enter too !!

I heard the thundering smack of the door against my dressing table which is behind the door - and that's when I woke up !! It was relatively early in the morning; and I had to go wash my face to get out of that nightmare mode ! And guess what - my damn eye was stinging me !! It felt like something went in my eye - and I swear I thought I saw a pen mark - a little dot - in my eye somewhere ! Karma maybe ?? But what the hell did I do ???
May I need some of these Bad Dream Sprinkles !
One of the first things I did once I was awake and functioning, was get the contact numbers of the Police, and Emergency services.
