Unworthy is a poem about dungeon pillaging pure and simple, words related to volcano, search, succumb, games hark back to role playing games for me.

volcano

Unworthy

Veteran of the volcano fires
submerge into depths of demons

In search of quartation stores
games to some known as foolhardy

Where life and death are the stakes
those who succumb to lavish hoards

Elation being their final mistake
dungeons do not reward the unworthy

-Poem by Justin Germino

Definitions:

  1. Quartation : So called because usually enough silver is added to make the amount of gold in the alloyed button about one fourth.  (In this poem used as a metaphor for metal stores, perhaps electrum or another metal treasure hoard).

When writing today’s poem I had a few thoughts and scenario’s cross my head, but I wanted to get readers input on what they envision when reading this poem.

soaring crash

Soaring Crash

Riots ticking
a destiny kiss
limitation of trust
ticket to challenge
superstitious outcomes
soaring too far
like a wild aviatrix
eventually come crashing
down to the ground

Return of the Dark Lord is a poem that paints a story of a cult of a death god who kidnap a girl via trickery with intentions to sacrifice her to their dark god.

return of dark lord

Return of the Dark Lord

Requiem of a blue moon birthday
seekers instantaneous celebration
worship of some dreary death god
purple ruler of this mountain abyss

Crazy development of a night ritual
some poor fluent
fluffy bunny blonde
falling for promises of a decent lunch
tricked like some monkey with a banana

Decisions made by dark caste vote
stupendous sacrifice of appeased
animosity against all life itself
for the return of the dark lord

Another Drink is a poem that tries to encapsulate an alcoholic at their most irrational, angry state. The refusal for treatment or even acknowledging there is a problem and burying themselves deeper into the drink.

alcoholic

Another Drink

Angry; sick of this recovery theme
doggone didactic sobriety preaching's
can’t fathom the life of a vodkaholic
those who seek to change or transfer me
deny these cravings as unclean divine storage
who would want this gregarious lifestyle
winning nothing but more condemnation
and more anger now like liquid insanity
pale pasty orange hued face now flush
like bright red holly berry clusters
again proclaiming love for the drink
denying what little family is left
what would they know of this curse?
the ranting ramblings to oneself
screw them all; alone isn’t so bad
in fact; I will drink to that

Chocolate Flames is a poem about passion and paints the scene of lovers taking to an evening of enjoyment. The last two words provided just set the whole theme of the poem for me, and the words just seemed to fall into place.

Chocolate Flames

Tonight’s performance needs no copyright
magical living inspired by our passion
puppy love meets raw venison desire
executrix of secretly wanted commands
compliance met with welcome punishment
this evening begins in chocolate flames

The Coming Age is a poem that plays off of the end of the world theme which comes up periodically in my poetry as people talk about 2012 and the end of the world crap that is so common place.  It is yet another way of retelling the supposed “doom” that falls upon mankind when what some believe will be Solar flares strong enough to burn away the surface of the world.

The Coming Age

Pray for the savage storm coming
most unwelcome and unnatural vaudeville
where collision of bizarre fire and rain
seek to undo superfluous human existence
poet and prophet are brothers in fear
people volunteer their souls as penance
and every magazine preaches the nearing end
with birds chirping their final tweet
from Sidney and London to
Oklahoma City
no country left unscathed from this totality
as this birthday will be our last day

There’s this cool guy that I follow on Twitter, Justin Germino and every day he creates a random twitter poem inspired by words submitted / suggested by his Twitter followers.

I’ve participated a few times and the results of each one has surprised me.  The way he manages to put the words together to form a poem is just fab.  It’s actually a great way of keeping one’s creativity fired up.

Since I have been looking for some guest bloggers to fill the void I leave when I’m away for events – I touched based with Justin to see if I could post the poems I have contributed; and the nice man that he is – he agreed !

To know more about Justin and read some awesome poems, do check out his blog ‘Wanderer Thoughts’.  Until then, here’s a short video he created to show the method and process of how he creates the poems.

Pretty cool process huh ? If you haven’t tried the Twitter Game as yet – do give it a shot – you never know what creative prose comes out of it !
